February 11, 2006 Although the Winter hasn't been particularly bad down in the Big Bottom pastures, it has been dumping on the high country of Colorado. Joni, Brindy (the dog) and Luke take a moment to play tourist up on Rabbit Ears Pass and have their photo taken next to the snow bank. This photo was not even taken at the highest elevation on the pass (there weren't any good/safe pull outs), and it's deeper up there. Snow accumulations like this haven't been seen since the '80's. On most of the pass it is square cut, by the rotary snow plow, two wickets high. The JVPH summer pastures, on Black Mountain, have snow accumulations similar to this. |

Playing tourists again, we stop to check out a black and white paint team pulling a hay sled, feeding cows the old fashioned way. This team was just off of US Highway 40, near the Wolford Mountain Reservoir, just North of Kremling, Colorado. Not many folks doing it this way...anymore. | |
